this is obviously not a kitty shot. it is my parents' siberean husky who is tired of being lazy all day.
scan from print. the shot is called "the burned dog" because that is what my darkroom-classmates called it when they saw it in the developing-tray. it took like ten tries to get the exposure and burning the way i wanted them. everything on this picture has been done by hand, the exposure, the cropping, the burning. i shot kodak tri-x 400 in a manual camera, developed the film myself in d-76 and finally printed it (on grad 2 semi matte paper) the way you can see it here. no digital editing, i just added a small frame to make it stand out from the deviant grey. Daily DeviationGiven 2006-12-22the burned dog is the first dog photo I've ever featured if I recall correctly, and as it happens, it will be the last one too for now. This shot truly deserves the attention, as I'm sure even the thumb will tell you in an instant... The sort of distorted effect and surreal aggression that jumps at you are simply something else... We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces.
